Our next meeting is Wednesday 15th October again starting at 7pm (100 Ashdell Road). In small
groups we will be discussing the introduction and first Bible Study entitled ‘The Gospel’ . For
those of you new to the Navigator style of small groups we encourage preparing the material in
advance. This has several benefits - First, you have time to spend time with God alone and come to
your own conclusions. In the small group discussion you will then be sharing your considered
thoughts and not just your prejudices and opinions. Secondly, others can benefit from your study
and anything God has revealed to you. Often God likes to reveal something to others that is really
meant for someone else - a key part of Christian fellowship, and the ‘body’ of Christ. In not preparing
this opportunity for God to use you in speaking and serving another is missed. Finally, the discipline
of preparation fosters the habit of seeking God’s wisdom for yourself, rather than being passive and
replying on others and not developing your own search and hunger for the things of God.
As Dave mentioned last Wednesday, one way to encourage preparation is to ask those who don’t prepare
to only listen in the discussion and not speak. Harsh in one sense, but we hope it makes sense!
The Bible Study isn’t long, and spending 45 mins preparation isn’t too much to ask. Feel free to spend
more time than that on it -and if you don’t prepare do still come along - no one will belittle you. We value
your presence, although there may be a little sadness at missing your considered contribution to the group.
You can download the study book in pdf format by clicking
We will have proper printed booklets on Wednesday for you - so perhaps make notes on paper using
the pdf file, or print it off yourself if you can. See you next week! Enjoy!
